The courses listed on the Victorian Skills Gateway website are either regulated qualifications under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF), or short accredited training courses comprising units of competency from regulated qualifications.

The Victorian Government through the Dept of Education and Training contracts TAFEs and other training provider’s to deliver government-subsidised training to eligible individuals under the Skills First program.

Skills First Skill Sets are a new accredited short course (skill set) offering under Skills First to provide flexible, rapid training to respond to skills shortages and workforce demands.

This program is open to support long-term grown for businesses and boost employment and economic development across the state. 

The Fund will operate for 10 years and will help to address barriers faced by successful SMEs that are ready to grow their business but can’t access the funds or find the right partner they need to take the next step.

Victorian Business Growth Fund

This program is funding by the Victorian Government.

Wage subsidies up to a maximum of $10,000 may be available to businesses that hire eligible individuals into ongoing jobs.

Wage subsidies are for new and ongoing employment positions and can be for full-time, part-time, casual, or even a traineeship or apprenticeship positions. Please note, a business cannot access a wage subsidy if they are receiving another government funding for the same position.

On 6 October 2020, the government announced a new incentive for businesses to employ additional young job seekers called the JobMaker Hiring Credit.

Eligible employers can access the JobMaker Hiring Credit for each new job they create over the 12 months from 7 October 2020 to 6 October 2021, for which they hire an eligible employee, for a maximum claim period of 12 months from their employment start date.  Employers can claim payments from 1 February 2021 and can claim payments for eligible additional employees for up to 12 months from their employment start date.

Subsidies and incentives are available for Australian businesses to help them hire, train and keep apprentices.

The aim of this program is to assist fill shortages in areas of industry that need it most.

The Jobs Hub is supporting job seekers and employers to connect in a rapidly changing job market. It is a website that allows people to find employers hiring as well as a range of useful websites and information to help people get a job.

The Australian JobSearch website provides a no cost platform for employers to advertise vacancies. Employment Service Providers can also utilise the platform to advertise employer vacancies that can be accessed for job seeker referrals by other providers.

The Jobs Victoria online hub is a free service that matches employers with skilled, local candidates. Employers can search for skilled, ready candidates in their community.
